01The Challenge

The Problem Statement

Localisation is about strengthening locally led humanitarian and development systems, and it involves many documents, commitments and initiatives. Before the Localisation Hub, this information was spread across documents, platforms and teams. This made it hard to find resources and to track ongoing initiatives. Teams and partners had no common place to go for localisation knowledge, and the Society’s own localisation work was harder to see. The Society needed one shared space where localisation information, resources and initiatives could be gathered and shared.

02The Solution

The Solution

The Localisation Hub centralises and showcases information, resources and initiatives related to localisation within the National Society. It gives teams and partners a common space to share knowledge. The Hub brings together African National Societies committed to stronger, locally led humanitarian and development systems, through aligned leadership, shared vision and coordinated action. Visitors can explore the Hub through sections for Overview, News & Stories, Events, Knowledge Hub, Learning Hub and National Societies. The Overview page shows recent news and stories, with the latest updates from the network. One example is a post on a virtual peer learning event on Digital Transformation and Innovation, which marked a milestone for KRCS to share its digital journey with Movement partners and the wider humanitarian and technology community. The Hub’s About page places the work in the context of the wider commitments it connects to. It links to the Grand Bargain and the IFRC NSD Compact, to IFRC Strategy 2030 and the Agenda for Renewal, and to the Pan-African Conference, its 2013-2017 commitments and the PAC Plan of Action. Behind the scenes, the Hub centralises localisation content with structured workflows for review, approval and publication, all in one shared space. It serves Africa, including Kenya, South Africa and the consortium partners.

03The Impact

The Impact

The Hub improved access to localisation knowledge for teams and partners. They can now find resources, news, events and initiatives in one place instead of searching across documents, platforms and teams. It also gave greater visibility to KRCS’s localisation work. Content goes through a structured review, approval and publication process before it is shared, so what is published in the shared space has been reviewed first.
